HP Scan and Capture is a software program that allows users of HP scanners to scan, edit, and output files.

HP Scan and Capture is great if you have an HP scanner. The program automatically detects nearby devices and allows you to capture the scanned images. You can then edit your images, output them to JPEG or PDF, and do with the documents what you will. It's a solid program that's an absolute necessity for those who have HP scanners. This is a simple, lightweight program that does exactly what it says on the box.

So, what's the downside to this program? Mostly, it comes in limitations. The program only outputs to JPEG and PDF, so you'll need to look elsewhere if you prefer another file format. Likewise, you'll need to find a different program if you want to do any significant photo editing beyond the basics. This isn't a bad editing suite, but it's incredibly limited compared to some of the other products on the market. It's hard to imagine a world where the included features could measure up with the expectations of many photo editor users.

If you've got an HP scanner, there's really no reason for you to avoid using the HP Scan and Capture software. It's certainly not the best editing software in the world, but it's solid enough that every user will be able to get something from it. You'll need to find another program if you want to do more creative editing, but you will be able to import and edit photos on a basic level if you use the software.
